Starfield

In most places, the light pollution blocks some of the best views we humans have of the enormous universe around us. I am fortunate enough to live under relatively dark skies so picking out constellations, galaxies and nebulae is somewhat easy. Here are some views of the night sky you wont get from the city.

The Andromeda Galaxy (M31)

Iv been looking at images of the Heart and Soul nebula in amazement for a few days so the next clear night, i decided to try something new. At this time, Id been using the telescope attached to the Meade tracking mount, and i use the word tracking loosely here, with little success. It was time to see what i could get at lower focal lengths. I zip tied the camera directly to the Mead mount and pointed it in the general direction of the Heart and Soul nebulae.

I was able to get good, long exposures with a much lower focal length. This was done with 2 minute exposures. I was excited to edit the data. I really wanted to see the nebulae from my own camera. But when it was done, i started to realized that i was more in awe of the twin clusters! That was an amazing surprise.
